OOA

OOA is a joint graduate school of the Netherlands Cancer Institute (Nederlands Kanker Instituut – NKI) and Medical Faculties of the Free University (Vrije Universiteit Medisch Centrum – VUmc) and University of Amsterdam (Amsterdam Medisch Centrum – AMC), respectively.

OOA provides an educational programme for PhD students in the field of oncology in the Amsterdam region. Our institutes strive for excellence in research and teaching in basic and clinical oncology, and have demonstrated to continuously provide PhD students with a high training level centred around excellent oncology research. The quality of our training and research programmes are shown by its regular accreditation by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences (KNAW) - most recently for period 2009-2014- and is also apparent from multiple rankings, including CWTS analysis.

Uniquely each of the three sites has a strong integration of basic, translational and clinical oncology research. In practice, the OOA research program is divided in two main topics; Experimental Biology and Experimental Clinical Research.
